Last Community of Scholars Meeting: 4/20

Please join us for the next -- and last of the 2003-04 academic year -- installment of the CUSSW Community of Scholars. It will be held on Tuesday April 20th at 1 pm in Room 815 McVickar Hall.

Shelley Akabas and Lauren Gates will present some findings from their work at the Workplace Center, where they examine ways in which to help clients achieve their vocational potential and the role of provider agencies in that process. A premise of their work is that employment is an outcome that can be the solution to -- or one of several solutions to -- an array of presenting problems facing different client populations. Their team at the Workplace Center has developed an evidence-based best-practice model that is used to train provider agencies to assist persons with mental health conditions to achieve competitive employment and career potential. They will use Tuesday's session to explain their model's applications as well as discuss applications to other at-risk populations.

Tuesday's meeting will also present an opportunity to discuss the 2004-05 academic year and how the Community of Scholars will proceed in the future. Please join us!
