The Columbia University School of Social Work is pleased to
announce that two of its professors, Associate Professor Ada
Mui and Assistant Professor Joan Davitt as well as two of
the School's recent doctoral graduate students have received
prestigious social work honors.
Associate Professor Ada Mui was chosen as a 2003 Ewald W.
Busse Research Award Recipient, one of only two winners this
year. She is being recognized for her contributions to the
knowledge base of international research on cross-cultural
aging populations. She will receive the award on Sunday November
23rd in San Diego. The Busse Research Award recognizes the
achievements of promising social scientists who have made
significant contributions to aging research. Professor Mui's
work has brought increased awareness to the importance of
cultural differences and similarities among ethnically diverse
elders.

the 2003 Social Research Policy and Practice (SRPP) Student
Research Award on CUSSW's Assistant Professor Joan Davitt.
The award entitles Davitt to an honorarium of $500. She will
present the paper for which she is being honored, an excerpt
from her dissertation entitled "Changes in Service Mix in
Medicare Home Health Care", before the GSA on Saturday November
22nd and will receive the award on Sunday November 23rd.
