3. How to order software and hardware and how long it usually takes?

If you are planning to purchase computer equipment through the University's encombrance procedure (School/University funds) and would like price quotes or recommendations, contact OCIT (phone: 1-2345/ email: swhelp@columbia.edu). Provide the product name, model number if available, or a brief description of the item and your budget, and a member of the School's OCIT team will contact you. The Unviersity's Purchasing Office has arranged for institutional prices (discount prices) on many products. OCIT can point you in the right direction to secure these prices.

The Office of Computing and Instructional Technologies will assess the computer and will make a recommendation (e.g, add additional RAM, more hardware space, or a new computer).
