Content of conference (Click here For the most recent Program):
1) Share current state of art knowledge of HIV risks among older adults in relation to illicit drugs (users or exposures to users)
2) Identify gaps of knowledge, and
3) Advance a research agenda for older adults in relation to HIV risk and illicit drug use.
Specific Aims:
1) Examine the impact of illicit drug use on life trajectories of older adults and its implications for HIV/AIDS research,
2) Understand co-morbidity of illicit drug use, HIV risk behaviors, sexuality, violence and trauma in the context of aging,
3) Examine social networks that serve as risk and protective factors among older adults in relation to illicit drugs,
4) To identify best practices for HIV prevention and intervention among older adults who use or are exposed to users of illicit drugs, and
5) Explore models of collaboration between community service providers, researchers, and older adults.
