Columbia University Student Services June Mailing

Columbia Health Program

Overview

All full-time students are automatically enrolled and charged for the Columbia Health Program.

Part-time students may also enroll in the program. The voluntary enrollment form is available on the Columbia Health website (beginning June 22).

Enrollment in the Columbia Health Program provides students with access to a variety of programs and services on-campus, as well as specific off-campus services. The fee is mandatory and automatically charged on the E-Bill to all full-time students and to those who elect enrollment in the Columbia Student Medical Insurance Plan. Other students may elect enrollment in the Columbia Health Program. The fee provides coverage of services from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012.

After paying the fee, students pay no additional charges when using services provided on campus, except for immunizations and travel assessments. Laboratory tests, radiology services and prescriptions ordered by Columbia Health providers are not covered by the fee.

Columbia Health Program

Columbia Health offers a variety of programs and services specifically designed to meet the health needs of students. These programs are arranged in five departments.

Medical Services provides routine, urgent medical care, as well as sexual health, reproductive and gynecological services, travel medicine, LGBTQ health care, immunizations, and HIV testing. Students are encouraged to select a primary care provider (bios and photos are available online) and can make appointments online.

Counseling and Psychological Services supports the psychological and emotional well-being of the campus community. Counseling and Psychological Services offers short-term individual counseling, couples counseling for students and their partners, student life support groups, medication consultation, training and emergency consultation. Students are encouraged to select a clinician (bios and photos are available online).

When Medical Services and Counseling and Psychological Services are closed, a clinician-on-call can provide telephone advice about urgent medical and mental health concerns.

Alice! Health Promotion connects students with information and resources, and supports healthy attitudes and behaviors within the campus community.

Disability Services coordinates reasonable accommodations and support services including assistive technology, networking groups, academic skills workshops, and learning specialists.

Sexual Violence Response
supports students in healing from sexual and relationship violence, as well as educates students about consent and coercion to promote community standards for a respectful and safe campus.
