Sparring Details
Sparring is a great way to get more real world practice and to put your skills to use. Columbia Tae Kwon Do competes in the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC). Here is an overview of how sparring works. (For more details on sparring, check out the ECTC rules page here.) Competitors are split up into different divisions based upon their belt level. The divisions are: Women's A-Team or Men's A-Team (Black Belts and below) Each division is comprised of at least one team, which consists of 3 competitors plus up to 2 alternates. Each team will consist of one lightweight competitor, one middleweight competitor, and one heavyweight competitor. The alternates may be of any weight division.
