This year our 20 member board has worked very hard to bring CASPY to new heights. With a greater number of Little Sibs than ever before, we hope to provide this year's participants with an awesome day of programming and Big Sib-Little Sib fun.
We also have new programming for parents this year. We hope that parents will participate in our first time panelist discussion with college students who are individuals of interracial adoption themselves.
Registration will begin at 9am on Sunday April 5th, 2009. Please enter Lerner Hall through its campus entrance. There will be a welcome table to direct you to the registration room in the Lobby.
The Chinese Adopted Siblings Program for Youth (CASPY) brings together families with adopted Chinese children and Chinese American college students for a day of fun and learning. The program was first conceived at Yale in 2002, and we at Columbia are proud to host the third annual CASPY in New York this year.
At the heart of CASPY is what we call the "Big Sib - Little Sib" relationship, the pairing of each adopted child with a Columbia student. Together, they participate in Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, arts and crafts, and all the other activities, workshops, and events at CASPY.
For parents, we also have a full schedule of activities, among them tea tasting, campus tours, and informative workshops on adoption and Asian American issues.
We hope CASPY continues to be a time each year for building and renewing friendships, sharing and creating experiences, and ultimately strengthening our sense and understanding of Chinese American identity. And we hope to see you there!
