The NATIONAL PALACE MUSEUM is the national museum of the Republic of China, and the 15th most visited museum in the world. It has a permanent collection of over 650,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks, though only 1% of it is shown at any given time. Covering 8,000 years of history, the museum's treasures were taken from the Palace Museum in Beijing in 1931. Today, the collection is one of the largest in the world.
