The New York Alpha Chapter was founded in 1902, and is the 9th oldest in the country.
Former Mayor Bloomberg and astronaut Buzz Aldrin are TBP members. Our own Prof. Mike Massimino (Mechanical Engineer, and former NASA astronaut) is a member as well.
The names of some Columbia buildings is the same as the surnames of famous Columbia Tau Bates: Charles Frederick Chandler, Michael Idvorsky Pupin, Augustus Schermerhorn, and Harvey Seeley Mudd.
