Monthly Newsletter of Thai Sabai, the Thai Students Club of Columbia College, SEAS & Barnard

Sawasdee from Thai Sabai

Welcome to the first edition of Thai Connection, a newsletter for the Thai community at Columbia University from the Executive Board of Thai Sabai. We understand the difficulties of staying informed of Thai events both on- and off-campus. Consider this newsletter as a way of helping you keep in touch with us.

As you know, Thai Sabai organizes cultural and social events for those students at Columbia University and Barnard College interested in Thai culture, language, and food. Right now, we have around 100 members.

Our dedication to Thai cultural awareness extends beyond the campus and onto the streets of New York City. Some recent events have included trips to the Thai temple in Queens and a Thai-Singaporean cooking workshop. We hope you will join us for the many fun and exciting events we have planned for this semester. We look forward to your participation.

Thai Sabai Events Recap

AROI!! AROI!! Last September, Thai Sabai hosted its annual General Meeting, a beginning of the year get-together attended by over 30 students. We were glad to see an even larger turnout for our most recent event, the first-ever Thai Sabai Potluck Party. In both events there was a ton of delicious Thai food. YUM! YUM!

CHARITY!! Last semester Thai Sabai participated in Night Market on College Walk. Our (very popular) booth featured Thai food and crafts. We raised $110, which will be donated to the King of Thailand’s ChaiPattana Foundation. The Foundation supports the implementation of Royally-initiated and other development projects and promotes the development of social and economic welfare activities.
