Professor Shapiro has taught as a Fulbright lecturer at Bar Ilan and Tel Aviv Universities, and has received awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Huntington Library, and the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. He is a columnist for The Chronicle for Higher Education.
