Synopsis

kekexili

Kekexili (Mountain Patrol) is a film inspired by a people's remarkable mission surrounding the illegal Tibetan antelope poaching in the region of Kekexili, the largest animal reserve in China. The story is brought to the screen with great detail by director Lu Chuan. Set against the exquisite backdrop of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Chuan tells the tale of brave local Tibetans who face death and starvation to save the endangered antelope herds from a band of ruthless hunters.


Biography

Lu Chuan graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 1998 and is one of the most promising sixth generation Chinese filmmakers. After writing the screenplay for a widely popular TV series, Black Hole (1999), Lu Chuan made his critically claimed debut Xunqiang (gThe Missing Gun,h 2002), which won the Best Film/Best Director/Best Debut/Best Actor by the Chinese Film Media Awards. Ke Ke Xi Li is his second feature film and won the Special Jury Prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival as well as Best Picture by the Taiwan Golden Horse Award. The film was also an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival.
