Synopsis
This is both matter-of-fact and acutely poignant account of how an olds married couple, Maria and Oleksander Vasianovyches, at the dusk of their lives, face the prospect of death. Their daily chores in the Polissian village of Meleny, at one point include the preparation for their inevitable end. They do it with a dignity, level-headedness, and wisdom that are both inspiring and chilling.
