Synopsis
This is another documentary of Hanna Yarovenko’s featuring Ukrainian folk culture as it is fostered and continuously rediscovered in the countryside since independence. The protagonist is Mykhailo Koval, a retired village teacher, polyglot, bandura-player, and a great enthusiast of folk culture in its endless manifestations – music, crafts, embroidery, myth, theatre. His retirement marked a new chapter in his life – an indefatigable popularization of folk culture in his native village and around the country. He is a man on a mission to preserve and further develop the riches of Ukrainian heritage and hand over his love for them to the young generation of provincial and urban youth.
