Synopsis
This is a screen adaptation of one of the most beloved works of Ukrainian classical literature, Lesia Ukrainka's drama "The Forest Song." A forest nymph Mavka falls in love with a mortal youth Lukash causing a dramatic clash between the world of carefree beauty of the forest and the world of the humans filled with jealousy, passion, rivalry and evil.
The film has been restored and digitally re-mastered as part of the 7-disk DVD gift set "Ukrainian Film Classics. Yuri Illienko," issued by the National Oleksander Dovzhenko Center in 2011.
