Synopsis

The award-winning director Taras Tomenko revisits the problem of Ukraine’s homeless children. This time around, his protagonist is the eleven-year old denizen of Kyiv’s streets Liza Nikitina. With her mother serving time in prison and her abusive father missing, Liza slips in and out of petty crime, pan-handling, and vagrancy. She is a gifted impersonator, singer, and simply a clever kid robbed of a future in the oligarch-dominated Ukrainian state and society indifferent to its progeny.
