Synopsis
The film is billed as a ‘frankly provocative melodrama’. From official synopsis: “This is a provocative story about a mad love and passion, which unfolds on the Greek island of Lesbos in the 1920s. A love triangle of an American couple, Sappho and Phil who are on the island for their honeymoon and a daughter of a Russian archeologist Helena. The love triangle re-enacts the most famous poem by the ancient Greek poetess Sappho extolling love between two women.”  Intended or not, the film shows human sexuality as something not so much cast in stone but changing under the influence of factors and circumstances the protagonists find themselves in.
