Synopsis
The film is based on a film story by O. Dovzhenko Ukraine
in Flames, banned by Stalin in 1944. The winds of
war scattered the entire family of the collective
farm director Petro Chaban all around the world.
His sons are fighting on the front, his daughter
forcefully taken a slave laborer to Germany, his
wife Tetiana was hanged by the Nazis for giving shelter
to wounded Russian pilots. Petro Chaban himself,
much like the rest of the Ukrainian people, has gone
through untold horrors during the war. |
