University Service

The University's instructional and research programs and many of its administrative activities depend on its faculty assuming collegial responsibility for their conduct. Therefore, officers of instruction are expected to serve on departmental and school committees, to assume their share of administrative responsibilities within the University, and to attend academic functions, as requested by the department chair, appropriate dean or vice president, Provost, and President. The department chair, dean, or vice president may, at his or her discretion, adjust the amount and kind of administrative service expected of an officer, particularly when the demands of research or academic work justify such an adjustment.
