Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I announce this year’s awardees for the Distinguished Columbia Faculty Award. The award was created in 2005 by Columbia Trustee Gerry Lenfest (’58LAW) to honor exceptional teaching in the Arts and Sciences. The awards are given annually to faculty of unusual merit across a range of activities including scholarship, University citizenship, and professional involvement, with an emphasis on teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

Please join me in congratulating this year’s honorees,

Christopher Brown, Professor, Department of History,

Brent Edwards, Professor, Department of English and Comparative Literature,

Darcy Kelley, Professor, Department of Biological Sciences,

Philip Kitcher, John Dewey Professor of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy,
