East Asian Regional Concentration within the School of International and Public Affairs
Students already enrolled in Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs, may complete an East Asian Regional Concentration which requires six graduate level East Asia courses (at least 3 credits each) and second year proficiency in an East Asian language. more

Funding for East Asian Studies
The Institute offers funding for language acquisition, research projects, internships, and dissertation write-up during the summer and academic year to selected Columbia graduate students committed to professional and academic engagement with East Asia. more

Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) Program
The SYLFF program at Columbia provides fellowship to current students "concentrating in the study of the Pacific Basin region...who have demonstrated high potential for future leadership in international affairs, in public life as well as in private endeavor" through generous funding from The Nippon Foundation. more

Weatherhead East Asian Institute Certificate
Students already enrolled in a masters or doctoral program at Columbia (excluding regional studies), may complete a Weatherhead East Asian Institute Certificate in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean Studies. The basic requirements are the completion of seven graduate level East Asia courses (at least 3 credits each), and fourth year proficiency in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
