C.T. Hu

Eminent China scholar and longtime Institute faculty member, C.T. Hu (Chang-tu Hu) passed away at the age of 92 on June 27, 2012. Professor Hu was professor of comparative education at Teachers College, Columbia University and was a very active member of the Institute until his retirement in 1985. Professor Hu graduated from Fudan University in 1942, received his master's from Washington State in 1951, and his PhD in History in 1954. He was a senior research scholar at Yale University from 1955-1957 and become an assistant professor at Teachers College, Columbia University from 1959-1962 before becoming a tenured professor from 1962-1985.
