Be a Peer Mentor Starting Line Youth Program

  • Would you like to help new immigrant students adjust to life in New York City?
  • Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience with others?
  • Help new immigrant high school or college students improve English communication skills, learn about
  • New York's diverse neighborhoods, learn about career and educational opportunities
  • Lead discussions, activities, group trips

Every Saturday  10:00am-12:30pm
October 4, 2008 to December 13, 2008

Teach English or Citizenship Classes to Adults
For many new immigrants, learning English is a first step to full participation in American society.  Help them take that first step by becoming a volunteer teacher.  This fun and rewarding experience gives you a chance to make a difference in the lives of others.   Bilingual skills are not required.  A strong desire to help and work with new immigrants is a must.  Prior teaching experience is helpful.

6:30 pm-8:30 pm Tuesday, Thursday

All new volunteers must apply and attend an orientation.
Next orientation sessions:
Saturday September 6, 10am
Monday, September 8 6:30pm
Wednesday, September 10 6:30pm
