Columbia students travel the world in pursuit of knowledge. This fall, along with new experiences and perspectives, as well as well-worn passports, many returned to campus with visual records of their time abroad. They used their cameras to inquire, document, represent, and to add to their understanding of the world. By virtue of its immediacy, the medium of photography allows us, too, to increase our understanding of the world through their camera lenses.
The work in this exhibition was selected for its ability to illustrate the key trends and concerns in East and Southeast Asia today, as well as the experience of Columbia students as they explore life within it.
