Columbia Festival of Winds
On March 7, 2010, The Columbia University Wind Ensemble will host the second annual Columbia Festival of Winds to support inner-city music education. Music is a quintessential element that distinguishes our humanity, and it is important to maintain our commitment to music education in New York City Schools where budgets for music programs are continually diminishing. The mission of the Columbia Festival of Winds is to raise money through performance with other New York City musicians and ensembles to subsidized music education programs in New York City schools. The festival will feature continuous music from 2pm-9:30pm from New York City wind bands, of the community, collegiate, and high school level. The Wycliffe Gordon Quintet will complete the festival with a headline performance from 8-9:30pm.
