Sarah Sechan
-Social Chair
-
Sarah is anticipating an awesome year with the wind ensemble and looks forward to planning many exhilliarating social events as this year's Social Chair! Sarah hails from Highland Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago, which is the capital of the Midwest. A junior in the Joint Program between Columbia's School of General Studies and the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), Sarah is pursuing B.A.s in anthropology and Jewish music. A proud member of the Mighty French Horn Section, Sarah has been playing the French Horn for six years, after abandoning both piano and violin. Previously, Sarah served as the Wind Ensemble's Treasurer, as well as a Core Committee member for the Columbia Festival of Winds. This year, Sarah will also be helping with Making Music Matter (M^3), serving as a Music Director. When not with the Wind Ensemble, Sarah can be seen gallivanting and G(tb)^2ing with the Columbia University Marching Band, working in a Hebrew school, attempting to cook without setting things on fire, and explaining to people that just because she goes to JTS doesn't mean she wants to be a rabbi. Sarah also used to be a volunteer tour guide at the Central Park Zoo, so any awesome/inane animal questions can be directed to her.
