Idra Novey’s first book of poems The Next Country received the Kinereth Gensler Award from Alice James Books and will be released in fall 2008.  She has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Society of America Chapbook Series, and the PEN Translation Fund. Her poems have appeared in Slate, the Paris Review, AGNI, and Ploughshares, and a book of her translations of Brazilian poet Paulo Henriques Britto, The Clean Shirt of It, was published in 2007.  She's translated and reviewed works in translation for a number of publications, including BOMB, Mid-American Review, and The Believer.
