On March 22, 2007, the Environmental Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association co-sponsored, with the Earth Engineering Center (EEC) of Columbia University and the Air and Waste Management Association, a public debate on the subject of “Is Thermal Treatment of Solid Wastes Good for New York City?”

The proceedings of this debate were filmed by a crew provided by Interstate Waste
Technologies. This footage was used by EEC to produce a two-DVD set that includes the
statements and rebuttals of both sides and also answers to questions from the audience.
It provides a very clear picture of the facts and fiction that envelop the continuing debate in New York and some other U.S. and Canadian cities as to the merits of energy recovery from solid wastes.
