U.S. and Global Waste-to-Energy Information
Solid "wastes" are in fact resources that contain useful materials and energy. Sustainable waste management requires that as many as possible of these resources are recovered, thus reducing the need for fossil fuels and for non-renewable materials. The principal means for energy and metals recovery from post-recycling solid "wastes" is waste-to-energy (WTE), also called energy-from-waste (EfW), and sometimes incineration.
