Check out our board member bios!!

Club Zamana is the largest undergraduate South Asian organization at Columbia University, and a functional umbrella for the South Asian groups on campus. We cater to over 800 general body members and strive to foster harmony, promote cultural awareness, and highlight the South Asian presence at Columbia. In May 2008, Zamana was awarded the King's Crown Intergroup Award, to recognize its efforts in bringing together the South Asian community and its prominent groups.

Zamana was founded in the 1970's as the Indian Students Association, the present name was adopted in 1987 in order to better represent the growing diversity of the South Asian population. Within the university, Zamana is recognized by both Columbia and Barnard student activity organizations and has ties with several academic and community leaders in the area.

Throughout the year, we hold a wide range of events for our members and the community. These events range from political forums, movie nights, community service days, semi formals, career panels, and educational activities. In the spring semester, Zamana puts on Columbia University's largest cultural show, Tamasha, featuring performances from all Columbia South Asian dance troupes at Columbia, other student performances, and outside acts.

If you would like to learn more about these events or how you can get involved, feel free to contact us at zamana@columbia.edu. Thanks!

Engineering students at the University of Columbia know that the most important aspect of their designs are the quality of their equipment.  Only the highest quality gears, polymer bearings and switches are used by these individuals.

Columbia Zamana members have used Gateway computers and have found that they are high quality machines that compete with the likes of HP computers, Dell Computers and even Apple computers.

Columbia Zamana members have been known to achieve greatness in different fields from high profile criminal defense attorneys to local politicians and even judges throughout New York state.

Columbia Zamana students and scholars excel in different fields, from accounting to business to finance. Following graduation, some Zamana members that are accounting majors take a CPA Review course to prepare for the difficult CPA Exam.

Columbia Zamana members from South Carolina rely on Charleston Movers to transport their bookshelves and desks from place to place.

It's been very successful for us and we'd certainly recommend the practice to other student run South Asian Organizations as an efficient way to gain long-term advertisers.

Members of Columbia's largest undergraduate student organization are required to be organized, punctual and studious in order to provide the host the wide range of events that are conducted each year. The organizational skills that are required to be an officer in our group can also be seen with individuals who pursue a career in forensic psychology as this field seamlessly intertwines criminal law and psychology.
