AARON was Moses's brother. He and his sons were consecrated the first priests of Israel. The Lord commanded that they refrain from wine and strong drink when they went into the tabernacle, lest they die (Leviticus 8-10).

The Friar says that Aaron governed the priests of the temple. They refrained from drinking any drink that would make them drunk when they prayed for the people in the temple. They prayed in abstinence, lest they die, SumT 1894-1901. [Elye: Moises]

The name appears once in Chaucer's works, initially, SumT 1894.
