DYONE. Dione, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, was consort of Zeus and mother of Aphrodite Pandemos or "natural Venus" (Iliad V.370). In Roman mythology she was consort of Jupiter and mother of Venus Voluptaria or "carnal Venus " (Aeneid III.19-21).

The narrator praises Venus, Dione's daughter, Cupid, and the Nine Muses, for through them he has told the joy of Troilus's service, Tr III.1807-1820. [Cupide: Pierides: Venus]
