JAKKE1. Jack is a common name, and in Chaucer's time it was a popular name for a villager.

Alison chases Absolon from her window, calling him "Jakke fool," MillT 3708. The Friar uses the name to denote any village lad, FrT 1357.

Jakke, the ME variant, appears in medial position.
