PAULUS. Lucius Aemilius Paullus, fl. second century B.C., was given the agnomen or title of conquest Macedonicus after he defeated the last king of Macedonia, Perseus III, in 168 B.C. at Pydna. His son Cornelius, who is known as Scipio Africanus Minor, was present at that battle (Livy, Ab urbe condita liber XLIV.1-3).

Lady Philosophy, speaking in Fortune's voice about mutability, tells Boethius how Paulus wept after he had captured Perseus III, Bo 2, Prosa 2.63-66. [Boece]

Paulus is the family name of the Aemilia clan.
