RICHARD1. Richard I, Coeur de Lion, 1157-1199, was the third son of Henry I and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Geoffrey of Vinsauf published his Poetria nova (New Poetry) soon after Richard's death, lamenting the king's death in lines 368-430.

The Nun's Priest apostrophizes Geoffrey, who chided Friday, the day on which Richard was slain, NPT 3347-3354. The fox seizes Chauntecleer on a Friday, which is also Venus's day.

The name appears once, medially, NPT 3348.
