SEPTEM TRYONES. Septemtriones are the Seven Plough Oxen or the seven stars in the constellations Ursa Minor and Ursa Major. Ptolemy describes the people of the North as those who have the Bears over their heads (Tetrabiblos II.2).

Nero ruled all the people who lived under the cold stars of Septem Tryones, Bo II, Metr 6. Chaucer's gloss explains that this means the people of the North. [Arctour: Boëtes]
