THOMAS1 (saint). Thomas the Apostle was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus (Matthew 10:2). Jacobus de Voragine gives his life story, Legenda aurea V. Christian tradition says that he was martyred in India, c. A.D. 46 (NCE XIV: 101).

The Merchant swears by St. Thomas of India, MerchT 1229-1231.
