VIRGO, the constellation the Virgin, is the sixth sign of the zodiac and lies in the northern hemisphere between Leo and Libra. It is the day house of Mercury, the exaltation or sign of maximum power of Mercury, and the depression or sign of minimum power of Venus (Tetrabiblos I.19), and the dry and cold sign (Confessio Amantis VII.1082).

Venus falls where Mercury is raised, i.e., in the sign of Virgo, WBP 705. Virgo lies opposite Pisces, Astr II.6.17-18. All the signs from the head or beginning of Aries to the end of Virgo are called signs of the north, Astr II.28.13-15. Virgo is the "sovereign" or western sign that Aries obeys, Astr II.28.37. [Mercurie: Venus]

The name appears only in the Astrolabe.
