YVE. Three saints named Yves appear in European martyrology: St. Yves, a mythical Persian bishop of the seventh century, who became patron saint of Huntingdonshire; St. Yves, patron saint of Brittany, canonized in 1347; St. Yves, bishop of Chartres in the twelfth century.

The greedy friar, SumT 1943, and the merchant of St. Denys, ShipT 227, swear by St. Yve. R.H. Cline suggests the Bishop of Chartres for both references.

The name occurs in final rhyming position, SumT 1943, ShipT 227.
