CCNMTL Faculty and Instructor Workshop: Mediathread: Advanced
Wednesday, September 11, 2013 - 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Columbia University Morningside Campus Butler Library, Room 204
This session, offered by Adrienne Garber, educational technologist at the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning (CCNMTL), is ideal for Columbia faculty and instructors who are interested in creating innovative, multimedia-based assignments and elevating their students' video and image analysis using CCNMTL's annotation platform Mediathread. In this advanced-level session, we will explore methods of analysis to improve students' skills of observation, interpretation, reasoning, judgment and self-reflection using videos, images and text. Specifically, topics such as creating custom digital collections, migrating materials from one semester (or course) to another, using student reports and analytic tools within the platform and using rubrics to create instructor feedback will be addressed. This hands-on session is targeted towards faculty who are in the advanced stages of using Mediathread in their courses, and for the teaching assistants who support them.
