CCNMTL Faculty and Instructor Workshop: Mediathread: Getting Started

Thursday, September 5, 2013 - 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Columbia University Morningside Campus Butler Library, Room 204
This session, offered by Adrienne Garber, educational technologist at the Columbia Center for New Media, Teaching and Learning (CCNMTL), is ideal for Columbia faculty and instructors who are interested in creating innovative, multimedia-based assignments and elevating their students video and image analysis using CCNMTL's annotation platform Mediathread.

In this beginner-level session, we will explore methods of analysis to improve students' skills of observation, interpretation, reasoning, judgment and self-reflection using videos, images and text. Specifically, topics such as system requirements, creating a Mediathread course, enrolling your students, creating an assignment, creating a discussion topic, embedding selections into your assignments and compositions, stocking your course's digital media collection, importing digital materials using the bookmarklet and providing instructor feedback will be addressed. This hands-on session is targeted towards faculty who are in the early stages of using Mediathread in their courses, and for the teaching assistants who support them.
