CCNMTL RewirED - What's it Worth? Getting Creative with Rubrics and Assessment. This session, offered by Adrienne Garber and Michael Cennamo, educational technologists at the Columbia Center for New Media, Teaching and Learning (CCNMTL) explores how course design and learning objectives can best be integrated into your course's rubrics and assessments.
This session aims to answer questions such as how should student work be assessed? Can faculty go beyond "class participation" grades to critique student achievement and understanding? What are some criteria that one should adhere to when encouraging the use of digital tools to facilitate student work?
Presenters share use cases from Columbia-offered tools such as CourseWorks, Wikispaces, EdBlogs, and Mediathread and provide some guidelines and Web 2.0 tools for creating rubrics and assessments to evaluate student work in wikis, blogs, multimedia assignments, and discussion boards.
