GSAS Teaching Center Workshop: New and Emerging Technologies to Support Research in the 21st Century
Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Columbia University Morningside Campus 204 Butler Library
This session will describe tools, techniques, and workflows made possible by new and emerging technologies to address problems encountered by real-world researchers. Case studies of research-related tasks will be used to frame a discussion of improvements to stages of the research lifecycle, including information-gathering, organization, sharing, and publication. The tools described may fundamentally change researchers' practices, will vary in technical difficulty, and will likely elicit gasps of magical wonderment. Researchers and those who support research in any discipline, with any skill level, are invited. Presented by Jeffrey Lancaster, Emerging Technologies Coordinator, Science & Engineering Libraries. Pizza will be available for registered participants.
