In November 2011, the World Health Organization designated
Mailman's Center for the History and Ethics of Public Health as a Collaborating
Center for Bioethics. One of six such Centers in the world, it is the only one
to focus on the ethics of public health. Dr. Andreas Reis of the World Health
Organization will make the formal announcement.
Justice Edwin Cameron a long time human rights advocate, a proponent of the
rights of people with HIV and a member of the Constitutional Court of South
Africa will deliver the keynote address, Autonomy, Dignity and Rights: A
Judge's Reflections.
