Gregory Mann and Roland Marchal discuss the current situation in Mali.
Malis collapse and Frances recent military intervention in its former colony took many observers by surprise. Does the latest French adventure in Africa open a new chapter in French-African relations, or is it the same old story of FranAfrique? How can Malians and their neighbors find a way forward, and what role can France play?
Gregory Mann is Associate Professor of History at Columbia and specialist of Francophone West Africa.
Roland
Marchal is a senior research fellow at the Centre National de la
Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). His research focuses on armed conflicts
and power politics in Africa.
Co-sponsored by the Columbia Maison Francaise, the Alliance Program and the Institute of African Studies
