Rereading Boris Pasternak: Between Literary Criticism and Philosophy

Thursday, November 29, 2012 - 12:00pm - 1:30pm
Columbia University Morningside Campus International Affairs Building Marshall D. Shulman Seminar Room (1219)
Please join the Harriman Institute for a lecture by Yulia Podoroga, Visiting Scholar. Boris Pasternak's poetry and poetics have been the object of numerous Russian critical studies, including works that focus on a philosophical context. The question now is whether these approaches give the best account of Pasternak's work, both in literary and philosophical terms. Yulia Podoroga's goal is not to look for Pasternak's philosophy, but to propose a new way to read Pasternak, which may also lead to a renewed dialogue between literature and philosophy. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
