Spatialities of Translation

Friday, March 1, 2013 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Columbia University Morningside Campus Barnard College Sulzberger Parlor, 3rd Floor Barnard Hall
How might our ideas about translation, which literally means a carrying across, change if we consider it as a traversing of space, be it a map, a maze, or some liminal or transitional state? Panelists attempt to reshape the theory and practice of translation by creatively rethinking its very coordinates. Bruno Bosteels is professor of Romance studies at Cornell University. Tom Conley is Abbott Lawrence Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University. Brian OKeeffe is lecturer in French at Barnard College. Phillip John Usher is assistant professor of French at Barnard College. Information pusher@barnard.edu
