Struggle for Syria

Wednesday, October 16, 2013 - 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Columbia University Morningside Campus Lerner Hall Cinema

With over 100, 000 deaths and millions of refugees, the Syrian civil war has shaken the Middle East and the world in what may define this decade's most troubling diplomatic challenge.  It has raised many questions about the ethical and legal justification for a military intervention, the necessity to uphold international law, and the dynamic engagement of the UN Security Council with the US-Russian dynamic in addressing this crisis. CIRCA is hosting a panel featuring three prominent specialists in the fields of international policy and intelligence in order to discuss these ever pressing issues.

Come out to Lerner Cinema to hear Professor Peter Clement, former Director of the Office of Russian and Eurasian Analysis at the CIA, and Mr. Jonathan Granoff, President of the Global Security Institute address these ongoing issues in Syria and the world at large. Professor Michael Doyle, Harold Brown Professor of US Foreign and Security Policy, will moderate.
