Wong Karwai's The Grandmaster: Digitality, Identity, and the Possibility of Culture

Dai Jinhua is Professor in the Institute of Comparative Literature & Comparative Culture at Peking University. Her talk will discuss Hong Kong director Wong Karwai's The Grandmaster (2013). Unlike his previous films, which often mine the problem of Hong Kong identity, his latest work takes up the issue of Chinese identity as a provisional digitalized cultural possibility.
