Ardipithicus ramidus
 


In 1992 and 1993, Tim White, Berhane Asfaw and Gen Suma found the fossil remains of 17 individuals of this species in Aramis, Ethiopia. The remains date to  approximately 4.4 million years.

The fossils are mostly of teeth but there are also a partial lower jaw
of a child, a partial cranium base and a partial arm bone. Subsequent
discoveries have generated a 45% complete skeleton.
